I was in high school, it was 1993, and one day a friend pulled out a Hacky-Sack. We played for an hour and I was interested. A few weeks later, I was kicking a footbag to get warm for our Frisbee Ultimate game and I hit a double kick and I passed it off as luck. A friend said, "That wasn't luck, that was skill." And that was the moment I was hooked. Remember to compliment your fellow players, it means a lot!
In 1985 I went a week early to the World Footbag Championships in Golden, Colorado and became a Certified Footbag Instructor. I competed at World Championships in every event. Back then, we all tried to win the Overall Title which also had the big money attached to it. It wasn't until the early 1990's that players started to specialize in net or freestyle. |
